How to prepare for your first sound bath session

The good news: there’s almost nothing you need to do to prepare for your first sound bowl session (the individual form of what many know as a sound bath). No training needed, no meditation skills, no need to “believe” in anything. A few practical details, though, go a long way towards letting you fully let go — here they are.

What should you wear?

Soft, comfortable, layered clothes — something you’ll enjoy lying in for an hour. Leave jeans, button-down shirts, skirts and your smartwatch at home: nothing should pinch, dig in, or buzz on your wrist. You’ll be covered with a blanket, so you won’t be cold.

Eating and drinking — what and when?

  • Skip heavy meals in the 1–2 hours before the session — a light meal is just right.
  • It’s worth skipping coffee and alcohol that day, or at least in the hours before your session.
  • Do drink plenty of water, before and after — our bodies are mostly water, and the bowls’ vibration works through it.

How should you arrive?

A few minutes early, if you can — so you don’t arrive into the silence at a sprint. Feel free to silence your phone at the door. :) And if you’re nervous, that’s completely fine: your first visit with me is a free assessment, half of which is simply a conversation — there will be time to arrive.

What about afterwards?

Give yourself time. Most people go home relaxed and “smoothed out”, but it’s also natural to feel more tired that day — your system is working. Don’t plan a big evening, drink plenty of water, and notice how you sleep. That’s what many people report first: deeper. :)

Three questions almost everyone asks

  • “What if I fall asleep?” — Nothing to worry about; quite the opposite. Your body senses the vibration even while you sleep.
  • “What if I can’t relax?” — Relaxing isn’t your job; the sound will help. That’s exactly why no practice is needed.
  • “How long is a session?” — 30, 60 or 90 minutes; prices are here. The other common questions live in the FAQ.

If you feel like trying it, write me a few lines and let’s find a time. And if you’d first like to read exactly what happens in a session, here’s the detailed guide.

Sound bowl sessions and soul journeys are well-being practices, not healthcare — they do not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.
